We are over the moon to be able to announce that Charleston, South Carolina’s HEYROCCO have signed to Vital Music Group.
Nate Merli (vocals and guitar), Christopher Cool (bass and yes, that’s his real name), and Taco Cooper (drums) first plugged in at their parent’s garage five years ago. It didn’t take long before they quit school in pursuit of becoming the biggest and loudest rock band of their generation.
This South Carolina-bred trio may be known for their dark, nostalgic pop tunes, but their compelling image and onstage persona is in-your-face rock and roll.
HEYROCCO’s first single from their forthcoming album ‘Teenage Movie Soundtrack’ (due for realease in March 2015) will be available as a free download from Monday 16th June here.
There will be a UK tour to follow in October 2014.
In the best possible way to kick off 2014, Vital Music Group are proud to announce the signing of their first artist, SHAKE SHAKE.
After many months of getting to know the band and their music, the members of SHAKE SHAKE decided that of all the labels on offer, VMG understood their desire to grow and develop at their own pace whilst also appreciating their wish not to be pre-judged on their past achievements within the industry.
Well the first half of 2013 has been all go for the Vital team with the next few months shaping up to be a very exciting time. We can’t wait to announce the first signings to the Vital roster very, very soon, so stay posted for more news to follow.
In February we successfully launched our first Strip Sleaze party at London’s Crucifix Lane. The crowd lapped up the sounds of Krystal Klear, Citizen, Medlar, Monitor 66, Magnier, Real Nice and Wall2Wall. We are also confident that it was London’s first ever club night where more bras and pants left the venue than arrived. Plans are in motion for another Strip Sleaze event later in the year with a mind-blowing line up. We’re also extremely excited to announce that Jess from the wonderful Repeat Button blog has joined the fold to head up Vital’s live events department. If you want to say hi and give her a nice warm welcome, you can get in touch here, and we suggest you go check her blog for some amazing new music! Also, if any of you want to get hold of one of the super-limited-edition Strip Sleaze t-shirts, printed by our buddies at Rogue Screenprint get in touch with your size here.
In between all that, James from Vital managed to find time to produce the debut album, ‘Eyes Wide to New Places,’ for new band Cast of Lions (previously Chapters). It was recorded over a couple of weeks in December at the amazing Giant Wafer studios in the Welsh countryside, mixed back in London and has just been made available for pre-order directly from the band here. You can also check out some footage of James and the guys in the studio in the video for the first song on the album, ‘Astronauts,’ below, and see some lovely photos of the recording process here too.
On Feb 9th, Vital Music Group will be putting on their first live event: Strip Sleaze // Valentine’s Special at Crucifix Lane in London. We are teaming up with MadTech Records, The House of Disco, Real Nice and Wall 2 Wall to showcase the best in the rapidly expanding Disco-House scene. To give partygoers the best experience possible we are also collaborating with The Dig Creative to transform Crucifix Lane’s arches-style space into a sleazy den.
With a lineup featuring Krystal Klear (Eglo, Madtech), Citizen (Madtech, LoveFever), Medlar (Wolf Music), Monitor 66 (House of Disco), Magnier (House of Disco), plus support from the Real Nice and Wall 2 Wall DJs, this is shaping up to be a perfect way to kickstart the party calendar after the restraint of January resolutions.
Check out details and updates on the event on Facebook and buy tickets on Resident Advisor. We’ve also got a couple of giveaways lined up and will be doing a piece about each artist over on our blog in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. To whet your appetite, check out this awesome ‘Best of 2012’ mix from Magnier.
